Healthcare :: UC Davis Medical Center ranked among US’ top 50 hospitals

UC Davis Medical Center again ranks among the top 50 hospitals in the nation, according to the annual survey published this week by U.S. News & World Report.

Of the 5,462 hospitals nationwide evaluated, only 173 scored high enough to be ranked in one or more of the 16 medical specialties included in the 2007 survey.

This year, UC Davis Medical Center ranked 36th for ear, nose and throat, and 49th for kidney disease.

This marks the 15th year that UC Davis Medical Center has been listed among ?America’s Best Hospitals.? Each year, U.S. News & World Report evaluates hospitals and medical centers in specialties ranging from cancer and heart disease to respiratory disorders and urology. To compare and rank each medical facility, the publication used results from surveys of physician specialists, number of Medicare inpatients seen, and care-related quality measures such as patient volume, relative availability of nurses, advanced technology, and credentialing by professional organizations.

UC Davis Medical Center has consistently ranked among the best hospitals in the magazine’s survey for every year it has been evaluated.
