Healthcare :: Services in place for Nanaimo family life transition

Service providers have been secured to begin the interim delivery of mental health and child and family development programs currently operated by the Nanaimo Family Life Association.

Effective July 27, the interim delivery of programs and services formerly housed with the association will be via existing agencies as follows:

Special Services to Children ? Ladysmith Resources Centre Association and the Central Vancouver Island Boys and Girls Club;

Family Advancement Program ? NARSF Program Ltd.;

Family Support Program ? NIC Resource Program; and

Intensive Child Care Referral ? Central Vancouver Island Boys and Girls Club.

Programs will be undergoing a review and redesign with a request for proposals (RFP) for permanent contractors expected this fall. The Nanaimo Family Life Association will maintain its existing volunteer counselling program.

Clients previously served by the association?s mental health outreach and clinical service are currently receiving support through the ministry?s child, youth and mental health staff.

The association is working in co-operation with staff from the Ministry of Children and Family Development and identified agencies to ensure the transition is smooth and seamless. No interruption in service to children, youth and families is expected.
