Healthcare :: No need for accreditation of hospitals – India

The Government today said it had no intention to go for accreditation of hospitals and labs involved in medical outsourcing and health tourism.

“In so far as accreditation per se is concerned, it is the policy of the Government that it should be voluntary,” Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi said in the Lok Sabha.

Filaria: The Government today said it has launched a two-pronged strategy for elimination of lympahtic filariasis, a chronic disease, by 2015.

Health Minister A Ramadoss said these included annual Mass Drug Administration of single-dose of Diethylcarbamazine Citrate (DEC) for five years or more to the eligilble population.
