Healthcare :: CIGNA HealthCare Signs Contracts with Three Large Washington Health Systems

CIGNA HealthCare announced that it has signed contracts with three major Washington providers, Swedish Medical Center, MultiCare Health System and Providence Health System.

The contracts, which cover all CIGNA HealthCare product lines in Washington, include all hospitals as well as physicians affiliated with these three health systems.

CIGNA announced plans to form its own network last year and is currently in negotiations with physicians and hospital systems to continue to build its own provider network effective July 1, 2007.

“Washington is a very important market for our company and we look forward to the opportunities that will come from having our own provider network,” said Daryl Edmonds, regional vice president for CIGNA HealthCare Mountain and Pacific Northwest regions. “The inclusion of these three health systems in our network gives us a strong base from which to provide flexible product designs to employers in the state.”

CIGNA HealthCare is committed to offering its customers and employers a broad network of providers and to working closely with physicians and hospitals as they deliver quality care to members. In addition to decision support tools that empower consumer choice, CIGNA HealthCare offers an extensive portfolio of health management programs and services based on clinical guidelines designed to help members follow physician treatment protocols and improve their health and well-being. These include the company’s Health Advisor program that features dedicated nurses to support care management and its Well Aware for Better Health? disease management program.
