Hand :: Doctor gifted cadaver hand to a stripper

New Jersey doctor Ahmed Rashed pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of third-degree theft for stealing a severed cadaver hand, which he gave to a stripper who displayed it in her New Jersey apartment.

The stripper woman kept the hand in a jar of formaldehyde in her apartment where it was discovered by police during an unrelated investigation.

Rashed was a medical student in New Jersey at the time. He gave the hand to Linda Kay, who worked in a strip club Rashed used to visit. Ahmed Rashed faces five years probation for stealing the hand in 2002 from a cadaver at a New Jersey medical school.

The doctor’s attorney says his client meant no disrespect, and removed the hand from a fully-dissected cadaver at medical school. The lawyer says he had no idea what he did was illegal.
