E Coli :: Morrisons Supermarket investigated in E coli outbreak, Scotland

The Public Health Protection Unit (PHPU) at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is investigating an outbreak of E coli 0157 in the Paisley area, Scotland.

An elderly patient has died and two other people are seriously ill in the hospital.

The PHPU is working closely with Renfrewshire Council Environmental Health, Food Standards Agency and Health Protection Scotland to identify the source of this infection.

Morrisons people are currently working closely with the authorities and although the full facts are not yet known.

As a precautionary measure, Morrisons withdrawn sliced cold meat products from sale at the delicatessen counters of two stores in Paisley, Scotland (Lonend and Falside Road).

It is advised anyone who has bought sliced cold meat products locally from the delicatessen counters in these two stores not to consume them.

No other products or Morrisons stores are involved in this investigation.
