Chocolate :: Undeclared milk in Vintage Plantations Soy Milk Chocolate Bars

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to milk not to consume Vintage Plantations Soy Milk Chocolate Bar described below. The affected product may contain milk which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, Vintage Plantations Soy Milk Chocolate Bar, product of Ecuador, is sold in a 100 gg package bearing UPC 7 97148 00039 8 and depicting a tree with a green band on top stating “43% Soy milk or 38% Soy milk”.

This product is known to have been distributed in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Alberta, and British Columbia but may have been distributed nationally.

There has been one reported illness in the USA, but none in Canada, associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk proteins.

The importer is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
