Cancer :: Ultrasound blasts cancer cells

Blasts of ultrasound have successfully destroyed cancer cells in mice, without drugs, surgery or radiation during an experiment in UK.

The technique, being refined by British company Gendel, relies on the application of an electric field to a tumour to make it susceptible to a follow-up blast of ultrasound.

The combination appears to cause tumour cells to self-destruct, says a report in New Scientist.
