Brain Tumor :: To celebrate brain tumor awareness week

Brain tumor survivors and their families, friends and medical staff will celebrate Brain Tumor Awareness Week with a community picnic from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Kings Bend Park in Pittsford.

Many in attendance at the picnic will be members of Brainstormers and the Adult Brain Tumor Network at Strong Memorial Hospital and the Wilmot Cancer Center, which provide support for brain cancer survivors and their families. Every year, more than 185,000 people will be diagnosed with brain tumors in the United States.

Highlights of the picnic will include a performance by Strong Jugglers and free chair massages by local therapists.

The University of Rochester Medical Center?s Neurosurgery, Pediatric Oncology, Radiation Oncology departments and the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center are sponsoring the event along with Schering-Plough.
