Google marks Children’s Day 2011 with a special doodle

Today, the doodle that Google India put on its home page to celebrate Children’s Day, the birthday of the first Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, was created by Varsha Gupta, a Class III student from Ryan International School, Greater Noida. Varsha Gupta was chosen as the winner of this year’s Doodle 4 Google competition organised by Google.

Google had announced that it would put the winning Doodle 4 Google entry on the Google India homepage on Children’s Day – 14th November 2011.

Indian Army got Brahmos supersonic cruise missiles

The Indian Army got the second regiment of indigenously produced Brahmos supersonic cruise missiles, yesterday. Artillery chief said the Brahmos system has emerged as the most reliable system for the armed forces.

The second BrahMos cruise missile regiment of ground systems with mobile launchers, command post, replenishment systems, fire-control systems with sophisticated electronic hardware and software and multiple communication systems was delivered to the Army on Wednesday.

Bangalore metro rail Namma Metro begins

Indian Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath and Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi flag off the train in the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda at the inaugural function in the Bangalore city.

Bangalore metro will open to public from 4 p.m. Thursday. The Metro service will run between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
