Asthma :: Asthma UK comment on Air pollution and development of asthma, allergy and infections in a birth cohort

Dr Victoria King, Research Development Manager at Asthma UK, said: The link between air pollution, traffic fumes and the development of asthma has long been debated.

We know that asthma symptoms in children can be associated with living close to major roads, and 66% of people with asthma tell us that traffic fumes make their asthma worse.

?This new study adds to the evidence, but unfortunately more research is needed. Asthma UK therefore awaits the follow-up study from this research group, which will be re-assessing the children at the age of eight, with interest.?
