In Maharashtra, social activist Anna Hazare broke his nine-day fast at Ralegan Siddhi in Ahmadnagar district on Wednesday, shortly after Lok Sabha passed the Lokpal Bill. However, Anna said that mere enactment of the law would not serve the purpose.
Anna Hazare also announced that “watchdog bodies” would be formed in states and districts to keep an eye on how the law is being enforced.
These bodies would have retired judges, state police chiefs and others with impeccable integrity and will keep vigil on how the law is implemented.
Only then the people will benefit from this law, Anna Hazare added.
