The Back to Nature Foods Company is recalling 26,472 boxes of Back to Nature Sesame Ginger Rice Thins Crackers with a “Best When Used By” date of 16 May 2007, because a small number of boxes were inadvertently manufactured using a milk ingredient seasoning, and no milk ingredients are declared on the label.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
This product expired on 16 May 2007. The company has voluntarily issued a nationwide recall to alert any milk-allergic consumers who may still have the product at home. Allergy tests confirmed the presence of milk in samples sent for testing after the company received two consumer reports of allergic reactions. The company’s investigation has determined that the wrong seasoning was used in the manufacturing of a very small number of the boxes of crackers.
The company has consulted with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the agency is aware of the company’s actions.
